Prof. Walid A. Abderrahman (PhD)
Vice President, Founding Member and Governor of Arab Water Council
- Professor of Water Resources Management, Manager of Water Division and Water Research Program - King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, Since 1980- 2008.
- Obtained his PhD from University of Reading, England. His major teaching, research and industrial expertise are in water resources management, Urban Water management, Water, Food and Energy Security, development of National water Strategies, Climate Change Security and its impacts on Water, Food and Energy, and Decision support systems for effective operation of water systems.
- Vice President, founding Member and Governor of the Arab Water Council, Cairo, Egypt, 2004-until now.
- Chairman, International Advisory Board, ACWA Holding, from 2015-
- Founder, Chairman and CEO, Miahona Holding Company, ACWA Holding, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 2006-2015.

- Governor of the UNESCO Regional Center for Water Training and Studies for Nile Basin and Arab countries, Cairo, Egypt (2002-2008).
- Fellow and Ex-Director of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA), USA (2004-2007).
- Managed more than 65 major applied research projects in water resources at KFUPM.
- Contributed to writing 13 international books and more than 165 technical papers.
- Organized, chaired and participated in scientific committees and organization of more than 100 water related conferences, symposiums and workshops in Saudi Arabia, Arab Countries and worldwide.
- Won seven international and national awards and prizes: including: Prince Sultan International Water Prize, 2006, the Prize of the Best Water Scientist in Arab Countries by the Council of Arab Ministers, andSABIC Award for Best Invention Using Plastics for Water Conservation,2003.
